The Chasm: A Journey to the Edge of Life
He found himself a traveler in the strangest of lands. Where invisible secrets come starkly into sight. Where the fairest of companions leads the way into unsuspected danger and darkness. Where hidden battles burst into the open. Where so much is grasped…and so much more seems unattainable.
Driven by a yearning he doesn’t understand, compelled toward a destination he can’t quite see, the traveler navigates the inhospitable landscape with determination and a flicker of something like hope—despite the obstacles that seem to unerringly block his path.
Novelist Randy Alcorn weaves a supernatural interplay of wills and motives, lusts and longings, love and sacrifice. It’s a potent mix that leaves every reader wondering: Do I really understand this world I live in? Do I really understand myself? Is there more to all this than I’ve ever dared hope?
The Chasm is a short-story allegory, about a man on a journey to reach a special place. Reminiscent of Pilgrim’s Progress, The Chasm is a quick and highly readable narrative, intensely textured, and multi-faced in meaning and application. Powerfully illustrated by artist Mike Biegel with a dozen compelling line drawings.

Is there a connection between The Chasm and Edge of Eternity?
The Chasm is an imaginative work of fiction in which Randy Alcorn weaves a story set in another world that sheds great light on the lives we live in this world. Powerfully illustrated by artist Mike Biegel, The Chasm was inspired by a few chapters in the middle of Randy’s novel Edge of Eternity, but is a much shorter book. It’s a standalone work that does not require any knowledge of the larger story.
Randy spent a great deal of time rewriting, editing, and adding new material that makes this story fresh and vibrant even to those who have read Edge of Eternity. The dynamic brand new illustrations make this an attractive gift book that communicates the gospel in ways that can both speak to unbelievers and help believers appreciate the life-changing power of the gospel.
